Bestest Birthday Present Ever!
Stop cringing lovers of the English language, I meant bestest.
So the bestest birthday present does not jump out of an angel food cake singing "Happy Birthday Mr. President" served with ice cream. Close, but that would be the second bestest birthday present.
The bestest birthday present is only 4.39cm long right now, and has a little flutter of a heartbeat. It has the Olympic Spirit of Shawn Johnson, doing somersaults and back flips so fast that tracking the little bugger was difficult with the ultrasound. The newest member of the V-Team also stretches out its arms and screams (we pretend it screams) in jubilation with the same intensity as Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak (USA Gold Medal Men's 4x100m freestyle relay team) after defeating the cocky turned crestfallen French. After watching all this unfold on an 8inch x 8inch screen over the course of 8 minutes, I counted 10 front flips, 2 with twists, and 3 backflips. We're already a little bit nervous about keeping up with the energetic little Benny-gene dominated character.
So it's kind of like putting a present under the Christmas tree that says "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS". Torturous I say, especially since this Christmas will not come until the stork delivers the newest member of the V-Team on or about March 1. And who knows if that date will change with the price of gas these days.
So my Baby's Momma (Michelle's new nickname) has already sealed wife of the year for this year. She can do no wrong, as long as she sticks to the list of "can't do's" in the pregnancy books we've been reading. She enjoys napping, and I enjoy taking sympathy naps with her. Besides sleeping, she is an avid Jelly Beaner, and enjoys blueberry Dunkin Donuts, ice cream, gummy bears, peanut anything, fruit, and caffeine-free tea.
My Baby's Momma is feeling great, and hasn't experienced any morning sickness. In fact, she feels so well she almost forgets that she is pregant. There was a point where she reached in the fridge for a cold one, but thankfully I had already taken care of them all. All joking aside, we're just praying for a healthy baby. And now that we're through the first trimester, we wanted to share the great news with our family and friends. Now back to baby-proofing the house.

hee hee! congrats you guys! can't wait to hear more about Baby V! And, from the other side of the world, Baby H says "HI!"
I'm so jealous, you guys have a TV and get to watch the Olympics!
Really happy for you guys. Glad the cat is out of the bag...
Congratulations!!!
congratulations to you both :) March, eh.. maybe I'll have a new birthday buddy next year!
YEAH! So glad we can finally let out that sigh of relief that we can talk about it! SOOOOO EXCITED and what a great way to introduce Baby V to all of us. You'll have to scrapbook it, hahaha
Oh and March is fabulous.
A prayer to God:
God,
Please help this world. We've tried so hard to take care of your creation. We promise we haven't sinned as bad as the people in Noah's time. We are grateful that you haven't flooded the whole earth again. Yet, O God, the heavens tremble and the seas roar with the news that you are about to unleash a Benny Baby upon us. O God, we repent from our evil ways and ask that you would save us from her/him, lest your fragile world be smashed into little bits. May you at least give her/him some of Mama V's mellowness and may you not let her/him grow up to be an enginerd or a Packers fan. One Benny Baby is enough!
In Your Most Holy Name We Pray,
Amen
(And yes, I know that the original Benny Baby is a Vikings fan. However, even Mama V has her faults that need not be passed on to her progeny.)
WOOHOO!!! So excited for you both! Life as you know it will never be the same - it will only get better. (Unless of course you're the one getting up for the dirty diaper in the middle of the night)
Oh, Michelle, you are going to have your hands full with a baby Benny! But we are so happy for you guys and can't wait to meet the little Volkmann!
Happy Birthday, Benny!
Congrats, sweetie! :)
Congrats to the parents-to-be!
I am so excited for you! Break out those knitting needles, Michelle! :)
Congratulations you two (or two and a half, I suppose)! We heard a while back but weren't sure it was supposed to be known, so have kept it on the DL (Benny, that is proper ghetto slang for the down-low...see note below). We are so excited to have a grand niec-phew on the way!
Correction:
Benny, the proper term is Baby Momma - there are no apostrophe s's in the hood (I get my info from Milwaukee!). And Michelle, please shield young Volkmann from the overwhelming grief/anger/rage/homicidal thoughts about the Brett situation. Loren is at the preseason game watching the "replacement" lose the game (along with help from his completely inexperienced backups) as I type, but you can't deter a true fan, so please prepare for some teeny, tiny Packer duds to be heading the Okinawa way come March or so!
Go Pack Go!
Omedetou V-team.
Much love,
Wisconsin Willes
I'm thrilled the world is getting another Volkmann. Congrats!
Yeah! I'm so happy for you guys! This is great news!
Ok here is the bet, the little Volkman will be taller than his dad at about 2 days old!
Congrats you two (and a half)!
You two will be the best parents ever!! Love you like a gangsta loves Tu Pac--since we're going all thugish with a Baby Momma.
It's so nice to read happy news - Congratulations to you both! (Meli's Mom)
Congrats you guys, I'm so excited for you. The boys and I will be thinking of you from Dubuque. :-)
Andrea
P.S. Dana gave me your blogspot, very cool.
YESSS!!!! I can't wait for baby Alicia to arrive!!! We are sooo excited for the two of you and can't wait to hear the stories of Benny in the delivery room!!!
